Next holiday, let's go diving in Krabi together "First diving experience and precautions"

This time I completed my first snorkeling and deep diving in Krabi at once. As someone who has played these two projects for the first time, I still want to share with you some of my little thoughts, so that you can be more comfortable when you play by yourself in the future.

First of all, let’s talk about snorkeling. I can sum it up in one sentence: wear a life jacket, float on the water, then bury your head in the water, and look at the natural landscape and some aquatic creatures carved out of the sand.

I have to say that the scenery on the snorkeling road is more beautiful than snorkeling

Snorkeling is completely possible whether you know how to swim or not, because you are wearing a life jacket , so even if a person who is afraid of water flutters, his life will not be in danger⚠️! But people around you may get kicked by you. My friend and I booked an island tour and snorkeling tour on Taobao. The total for the two of us was about 500 yuan a day.

If your eyes are myopic, it is recommended to prepare contact lenses in advance. Frame glasses are definitely not allowed. Some travel agencies can provide prescription lenses, but you must make a reservation with the store in advance.

And if you only saw this post in Krabi, don’t worry. There are contact lenses sold in Krabi town, but be careful not to buy them in stores opened by Indians. We are in the town. I asked about an optical shop run by Indians, and the prices were exorbitantly expensive.

Key points: Watsons on the edge of Ao Nang Beach sells contact lenses of various powers, one box is 299 baht, two boxes are 399 baht, monthly disposables.

Speaking of snorkeling, regardless of age or sex, as long as you have no diving experience before, you can try it when you come to Krabi. However, compared to snorkeling, I prefer the swimming project in this group. The area near the island is super beautiful. Without further ado, let’s just take the pictures.

Swimming in this sea area

There are also many tourists rowing and diving here

Let’s get into this article The official part - deep dive! I chose to start from Krabi and go to Phi Phi Island for deep diving. Because I didn’t have a diving certificate, I could only sign up to experience diving. As for the price, the total cost is about 1,350 yuan for two dives a day. Since I came on the 11th, I suspect there will be a price increase.

I also asked my friends who went deep diving in Semporna. They were probably more than 600 people each. At first I thought the difference was too much, but then I compared our photos and videos, and I think this It's still worth the money.

I will talk about the specific itinerary in the next article, as well as various food recommendations in Bangkok and Krabi. Believe me, after reading that, you will not know what to eat in Bangkok! I won’t go into details here, but those who are interested can check it out later!

This is a hidden attraction in Ao Nang Beach, Krabi. The next travel note will introduce how to get there

The first thing to emphasize is: friends who can’t swim really really Deep diving is not recommended! ! ! Because it's a waste of money, you may start flopping to get home as soon as you're dragged underwater.

I don’t know why, but my previous impression of deep diving was that everyone stood in a row on the bottom of the sea, pulling a rope forward. Maybe there really is such a project, but this deep dive has nothing to do with the rope. It just means swimming in the water with an oxygen bottle on your back. In fact, as an introduction to deep diving, it is not difficult to experience diving. As long as you know how to swim, be brave, take care of your ears and nose, and the instructor will teach you the rest.

Because we decided to go deep diving temporarily, we didn’t make any specific preparations. Here are some small precautions for your reference:

1) You can wear contact lenses when experiencing diving. But if you can make an appointment, try to reserve a submersible with a prescription;
2) The deep diving and snorkeling in Krabi are near Phi Phi Island, and tickets are charged separately;
3) Phi Phi Island The tickets are valid for three days. Don’t be deceived by unscrupulous Taobao merchants and buy twice because snorkeling and diving are near Phi Phi Island. You don’t need to buy tickets twice within three days (we were deceived and spent more It costs 400 baht per person);
4) Deep diving is usually on a big boat, with plenty of space and plenty of space. It is best to bring a hotel towel, which is both warm and sun-shading, very useful;
5) If you can It’s best to bring your own video recording equipment. Go Pro or Osmo will do, and others will do. Anyway, it’s best to bring your own, because firstly, you save money, and secondly, the picture quality and color are really better than the cameras of these tour guides. ;
6) If possible, bring something to pass the time. Because the boat is relatively large, it drives very slowly. It takes about 6 hours to go back and forth;
7) It is recommended to snorkel first and then dive deep, so as to have some mental construction. , it is still very helpful for deep diving!

Luxury Cruise

There are not many things to prepare. For me, this preparation, plus the necessary sunscreen and so on, is almost enough. After everything is ready, we will officially enter the water. Because it was cloudy on the day we went out to sea, the visibility was not that good. I heard from the tour guide that December and June are the most beautiful seasons for diving here. You can refer to this time to make a decision.

After taking a three-hour cruise, we finally arrived at the deep dive site. Since we didn’t bring any underwater camera equipment, we bought a photo service with the crew for 1,500 baht for two people. In the end, they took 200 baht for us. There are many photos, but his photography skills, emmmm, are at the level of passers-by.

The oxygen tank was heavier than I thought. I was a little nervous during my first deep dive in the morning. When I jumped into the water from the boat, the oxygen nozzle was almost shaken off by the water. I would like to remind beginners here. , when entering the water, hold the oxygen nozzle with one hand and the goggles with the other hand. This way, when entering the water, it will not be easy for water to enter and you will not be too nervous.

After entering the water, turn over and lie on the water, and the instructor will pull you to the deep diving point. Our coach’s name is Xiaolong. Although he is Thai, he speaks 666 in Chinese and it is very convenient to communicate. He took my friend and me alone, but we are both students with relatively good adaptability, and he It's also easier.

When you float on the ocean, there is an inexplicable sense of fear and beauty

After we adapted to the temperature of the sea water, the instructor began to pull us down. I feel that as a beginner, the first and most important thing is to listen carefully to the instructor's instructions before going out to sea, and remember clearly those hand gestures and how to adjust your ear pressure underwater, glasses become foggy when water gets in, and change oxygen nozzles. Only when these are mastered clearly can you feel more comfortable and safe underwater.

The biggest problem I encountered during diving was ear pressure. During the dive, as the depth increases, the water pressure felt by the human body will become greater, and the ear pressure in the two ears will be unbalanced, so there will be a feeling of blockage or tingling during the dive. The width of the Eustachian tube varies from person to person. Beginners will feel a tingling sensation about 2 meters from the water surface in the early stages of diving. This is a very critical point.

This kind of tingling sensation is difficult to feel on the ground, so this is probably the first time you have had this feeling in your life, so don’t panic at this time. It may be caused by many reasons: for example It may be a matter of your own endurance, the instructor's faster diving speed, or your diving posture.

My friends and I have been doing ear pressure balancing during the dive

When encountering this situation, the first thing you have to do is to balance the ear pressure. The specific technique will be explained by the instructor. As taught, you can also try to take a breath through your mouth, then pinch your nose, and slowly exhale the breath through your mouth. If you feel a slight pushing sensation on the eardrums of both ears, then the posture is Correct. You can also try this method if your ears usually feel swollen. This action must be mastered skillfully, because whether you can dive to a sufficient distance depends on your own adjustment.

In the first 2-5 meters, the tingling sensation will be very strong. It is recommended that you do not rush and tell the instructor to return to the surface, indicating that his ears are a little uncomfortable. Then the instructor will stop diving and give you time to adapt. You need to slowly balance the ear pressure several times, and the pain will gradually disappear. This happened to me during two deep dives, and with reasonable persistence and ear pressure equalization operations, I got through it.

After you get through it, the beautiful underwater world is waiting for you. Here you can see big turtles, various corals, small fish and many strange but beautiful lives. Everything here is quiet and peaceful.

Big turtle!

Little fish!

Coral colony!

Of course, if you want to pursue larger fish schools or experience a more thrilling underwater world, you will discover more if you explore further. The deepest free diving distance in Krabi is 12 meters. Because my friends and I have adapted well, the instructor also took us to the deepest distance. Of course, there is a price to pay, that is, after breaking through eight meters, the ears will appear again. question.

This time the tingling sensation will be stronger than before. I immediately informed the coach and he also gave me more time to adjust because it is difficult to feel the flow of time underwater. Anyway, I feel that I have adjusted. After a while, it gradually returned to normal. In fact, don’t panic, just give yourself some time to adjust. Of course, the depth that can be tolerated varies from person to person. Some of our peers only dived two or three meters. They also saw their own beautiful scenery. Don’t be brave and stay within reasonable limits. Just stick to it within the range.

The deeper water world is no longer as flat as before. The terrain becomes more undulating. The protruding reefs will hide more fish and corals, as well as oversized sea urchins that will make you drool. Traveling between these rocks gave me a sense of sight as when Sun Wukong traveled through the Dragon Palace in the East China Sea in Journey to the West.

Small fish!

And my heart! ❤️

After a period of searching, we finally found a large school of fish. The instructor signaled us to follow the fish slowly. We had never eaten so many fish in our lives. At that moment, we felt a kind of fusion power, and the swing of the flippers became more and more comfortable. We followed the rhythm of the fish. I also started to learn to turn, rise and sink. As expected, actual combat is the best teacher.

This school of fish is really big

When you encounter this kind of fish, you need to follow them slowly

The fish group formed into small fish

After that, the coach took us to Shark Bay. Since we were experiencing diving, we couldn’t get close. From a distance, we saw a shark quickly swimming towards us. Traveling before my eyes. Then I also asked the coach about whether sharks are dangerous or not. In fact, sharks disdain eating humans. They are attracted to human blood, but they don’t like human blood. Generally, they will not actively attack humans. . And they hate bubbles, just like dolphins. When you dive deep, sharks may not want to get close to you because breathing creates a lot of bubbles.

But they will attack surfers 🏄♀️, because when the waves pass and the surfers lie on the surfboard and paddle their limbs, the sharks will regard them as seals and other creatures and attack, but when they After biting off a human's leg or hand, they usually choose to leave because they really don't like it. This may be like the feeling of eating ginger cubes when eating braised chicken. After taking a bite, you found that it was ginger cubes and you vomited.

The time of both deep dives passed very quickly. After the second deep dive, I had a little bruise on my nose, but this is a normal phenomenon. The water pressure was too high. It was my first deep dive again. If you dive down to 12 meters, the blood vessels in the nasal mucosa will be damaged. As far as I know, some people still experience ear bleeding, so friends who have had some problems with their nose or ears and have had surgery must not be pushy.

Here I would like to interject a sentence about deep sea phobia. I also have deep sea phobia, and I will be scared when I see those videos and pictures, so that I used to have nightmares about the water tank in the aquarium suddenly breaking, and a large ocean rushing towards me. The description described it to me again. Got goosebumps.

So before going into the water this time, this was what I was most worried about. But after actually diving a few meters, the glasses can see the surrounding scenery, and I can see the real corals, reefs, and various marine life, but I no longer have that kind of fear and anxiety.

However, we surfaced at the end of the deep dive. Because the waves were too big, when I was forced to separate from my friend and instructor, my head was buried in the water, and there was only sea water within my sight. Sometimes, that disgusting and terrifying feeling will come back, chest tightness, feet starting to feel sore and numb, and then the body will feel cold🥶...

Because of the people around me, Dahai has feelings. Bar

At first I was heartbroken by the price, but after personal experience, my friend and I agreed that it was worth it, and it added unique memories to our trip. We have also agreed that one of the themes of our next trip is to get a diving certificate together. After all, with a certificate, not only the price of diving will go down, but you can also truly do FunDive. Thinking about it makes me a little excited.

It takes too much time to sort out. Handsome guys and beauties who like bloggers are welcome to follow, collect, like and comment to give me a quadruple critical hit💗I will also update my fun and interesting life from time to time. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Ask a question!

No matter the wind or rain, my uncle is here waiting for you!
