Chiang Mai is a cure for those who don’t like to do guides. It is full of fireworks and the characteristics of northern Thailand.
Just the opposite of Bangkok, Chiang Mai really doesn’t need a guide.
Any restaurant is full of fireworks and has strong Northern Thai characteristics; any restaurant is hard to go wrong, and the aunts are very enthusiastic.
1️⃣Accommodation
The area where I live is nothing more than two areas, Ningman Road and the ancient city. Personally, I feel that people who are traveling for a short trip are more suitable to live near Ningman Road - it is more lively, there are many places to go shopping and eat, and the infrastructure and hotels are relatively better. People who stay for a long time can consider staying near the ancient city - it is more comfortable, leisurely, clean, and relatively cheaper. The 🏠travelodge nimman we stayed in was pretty good, relatively clean and new, very close to Nimman Road and very convenient. There are many internet celebrity stores and hotels nearby.
2️⃣Food
Thailand’s food is not easy to miss, and it is indeed the most delicious country in Southeast Asia. Northern Thai cuisine (or Northern Thai hot pot) is a relatively unique delicacy in Chiang Mai. It is recommended to try it. I like Northern Thai specialty curry noodles very much, but Northern Thai food varies from person to person. In addition, Northern Thai beef is also really delicious and cheap. I must highly recommend Ancient beef Thai cuisine. I am willing to go to this northern Thai beef restaurant near the ancient city again and again.
3️⃣Ma Kill Chicken
Most normal 1-hour Thai massages are 300-450 baht, and you can experience a very cost-effective relaxing experience within RMB100. During the four days in Bangkok, I did four restaurants, almost all of which were walk-ins. 📍Herb massage &📍Giving tree are highly recommended (and open until 0 o'clock, later than many others)
4️⃣Attractions
Chiang Mai Geng Village? It means to be closer to nature. Many mountains surround this small town. Where there are mountains, smart humans are bound to come up with many ideas. Waterfalls + outdoor sports are great features. We chose Nianni Waterfall (we loved it, it was so cool in the mountains). We didn’t have time for outdoor sports because the distances between places were not too close. We recommend chartering a car (you can find an agency or a taxi driver to discuss the price). We talked with a local driver. Chartering a car to the waterfall + waterfall cafe + round-trip transfer is 1,700 baht/day, which is indeed much cheaper than contacting China directly. You can consider it yourself, in fact, it all works.
5️⃣Shopping
In addition to 711 & Thailand-only (goodgoods vegetable baskets, etc.) Chiang Mai has many markets that are good for shopping and shopping. From Monday to Sunday, there are different markets every day. one market/white market/JJ market/coconut grove market/rainforest market/bread market/old city night market...too many. There are market guides all over the Internet, so just pick a suitable day and go to the one you are interested in. Anyway, Chiang Mai is much cheaper than Bangkok, and cotton and linen & denim are also great features. I bought a lot of cotton and linen products~
