Wat Traimit Wittayaram Worawihan is dedicated to the Golden Buddha

Wat Traimit Wittayaram Worawihan is located in the Samphanthawong district. It is one of the must-visit temples for foreign tourists and pilgrims in Bangkok. Because it is the home of Phra Phuttha Maha Suwan Patimakorn. Also known as the "Golden Buddha" is the largest pure gold Buddha statue in the world.



The Reclining Buddha Temple (Wat Traimit Wittayaram Worawihan) was first built during the Ayutthaya period. Because it was built by three Chinese people, it was named "San Hua Temple" or "San Hua Nan Temple". Later, it was renovated during the reign of King Rama III of Rattanakosin. The name was changed to "Wat Traimit".



Phra Phuttha Maha Suwan Patimakorn It is considered a valuable treasure of the Thai nation. This Buddha statue weighs about 5.5 tons and is about 3 meters tall. It has an interesting history. Because it was covered with many layers of gold to prevent theft during the war. Before it was discovered to be real gold in 1955.

Opening Hours: The temple is open daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and a small entrance fee is required to visit the Phra Phuttha Maha Suwan sculptor and museum.
