Vietnam holds military parades here. Ba Dinh Square is 320 meters long and nearly 100 meters wide. The square has several radial boulevards connected to other parts of Hanoi city, leading to major attractions and shopping malls in Hanoi. In the southwest corner of Hanoi, in Vietnam, lies the largest freshwater lake in the northern region, named West Lake. Surrounded by mountains with a pleasant atmosphere, it is an oasis of beauty. Many historical and cultural sites, places of interest surround West Lake, like Wenbi Mountain and Qiandao Temple. There are reed wetlands and lotus flowers growing in the lake, besides some villages and hugely important agricultural lands surrounding it. In the center of the lake is a small isle called "Sun Island," with an ancient pagoda gate and a small temple. West Lake has emerged as one of the most popular spots for visitors in Hanoi. Visitors to the lake may go for a boat ride and soak in the extravagant vistas of the lake and the mountains.
