Hong Kong Central tram Mid-levels escalator, Chungking Express filming location
We were going to the top of the mountain to watch the sunset. We found out that the sunset was at 18:19 that day. We arrived at the Central MTR station at 16:10 and were ready to start climbing the mountain. Exit from Exit C and walk west along the main road Des Voeux Road to Queen Victoria Road. Turn left and climb a little higher to see the entrance of the Mid-Levels Escalator (Picture 2), which is the classic scene in "Chungking Express".Take the escalator up two sections to "Victoria Prison", a prison building with a long history. It is now open to the public and has a lot of historical controversy. You can learn about it yourself. Then take the Mid-Levels Escalator up to Conduit Road, which is the end of the escalator. If you don't stop, the whole journey will take about 20 minutes. At this time, you have climbed more than half of the height and need to walk to the top of the mountain. Refer to Picture 4. From the end of the escalator, walk southeast along Conduit Road to the first pink circle fork, turn right in front of the intersection and go up the mountain to Xiangxue Road (Picture 5). At this time, you will start a 40-50 minute climb. Along the way are the mansions of Hong Kong's upper class. Kelly Chen, Michelle Reis and other celebrities have mansions here.
The road up the mountain is ridiculously steep, and it feels like 30 or 40 degrees, and it is a car road (very ridiculous). From this moment on, just follow the road signs and walk to "Old Peak Road" and head towards the top of the mountain. The Peak Tower is the Peak Plaza, a huge shopping center with many delicious foods. The most amazing thing is that there is a Nai Xue. Many mainland friends come to climb the mountain for this Nai Xue. From the top platform, you can see the sunset in Tseung Kwan O to the east and the sunset to the west. The clouds were too thick on the day we went there, so we only saw a nice sunset.
You can take bus No. 15 from the top of the mountain to go down the mountain, directly to Causeway Bay, Admiralty, and Central. The fare is 13.2, which is a bit expensive. The last bus time should be checked in advance. Many friends choose to take the bus up the mountain and walk down the mountain, but in fact, the process of going down the mountain may not be very easy. Go up the escalator for most of the way up the mountain and then climb the mountain to see the luxury houses in Hong Kong. At the top of the mountain, you can enjoy Nai Xue while watching the night view of Hong Kong Island city below the mountain. When it gets dark and you can't see anything, take the bus down the mountain. I personally recommend this route and I am very satisfied with it!
