Watching the sunset at the cactus community in Wolryeong-ri, Jeju Island, South Korea

This autumn visit to Jeju Island was sunny every day, so there were beautiful sunsets to watch every day. Today we went to the "Wolryeong-ri Cactus Community Trail" recommended by the B&B owner to watch the sunset. It is only a 5-minute drive from the B&B. There are not many tourists, and the trail is flat and easy to walk. It is indeed a good place to watch the sunset.

Wolryeong-ri Cactus Community (월령리 선인장군락) is located in the northwest of Jeju Island, not far from the Gyeongjae Sea. If you drive there, you can park your car at the parking lot near Wolryeong Pier. If you take the bus, get off at the "Wolryeong-ri (월령리)" stop.

We arrived at 17:15, more than half an hour before sunset. Cactus community map, the brown one is the wooden plank road. The Wolryeong-ri cactus community is the only wild cactus community in Korea. It is speculated that the cactus drifted here from Mexico with the ocean current and then formed a settlement in the cracks of the rocks. There is a wooden plank road about 300 meters long here, which is convenient for tourists to appreciate the cacti on the rocks on both sides.

Because the cactus' oval shape resembles a palm, local residents call it "palm cactus". When the cactus blooms from June to July every year, the wooden plank road is full of small yellow flowers, which makes it even more beautiful when taking photos.

There is a large square table commonly seen in Korean dramas placed next to the wooden plank road. It is so comfortable to lie here, listen to music, feel the sea breeze, and watch the sunset!

This is part of Jeju Olle Route 14. At the entrance at the other end of the wooden plank road, there is an explanation of the cactus settlement and a blue pony-shaped Olle Road stamp.

There are two cafes next to it, "R14" and "쉴만한물가", both open until 18:00.

The place marked as PHOTO SPOT on the map looks like a small park with tables and chairs for resting, and a small beach below. The locals brought two camping chairs and watched the sunset on the beach.

The sun gradually sets, and the sky is dyed orange and red.

At this time, a dog owner brought his dog to play in the water. What a happy dog!

After the sun slowly disappeared below the horizon, we headed toward the village, where there were many painted walls.

This village attracts many tourists to check in because Kong Liu went to Jeju Island in 2017 to shoot short videos and pictorials for the clothing brand epigram, and Wolryeong-ri was one of the shooting locations.

After finding the location where Kong Liu Pictorial was filmed, I walked back with satisfaction and prepared to have dinner.
