City walks in Hanoi, Vietnam. Visit the Temple of Literature, Hoan Kiem Lake, Hanoi Old Street and the Pink Church
After visiting Halong Bay in Vietnam, we went to Hanoi for a trip. I originally wanted to ask the hotel to help me book a bus to Hanoi, but I wanted to check out the bus station here and take a bus from the bus station to Hanoi. However, when I arrived at the bus station, I found out that the bus station in Vietnam also seemed to be facing operational difficulties. The station also sold you to privately operated minibuses. And the minibus can pick you up directly at the hotel. I don't know the situation here without experience. But it's okay to think about it. Anyway, I'm not in a hurry. Traveling is to experience different life experiences. So I feel at ease to feel the beauty of this journey. I have to mention that it's really cheap to stop and eat on the road for only 40,000VD, and the food is really delicious, and there is also wolfberry loofah soup. It's a completely different experience from the impression that stopping and eating is expensive and unpalatable.
Arrived near Hanoi My Dinh Station in the afternoon, then took a taxi to the hotel near Hoan Kiem Lake, checked in and took a short rest. It was still early, so let's walk around Hoan Kiem Lake to enjoy it. Soon we walked to the edge of Hoan Kiem Lake, and not far away was Ngoc Son Temple. The entrance was Bifeng Mountain, and the layout of the entrance of Ngoc Son Temple was like a green dragon on the left and a white tiger on the right. I was not particularly interested in the temple, so I didn't pay to go in. After enjoying the scenery, I continued to walk along the lake.
Walk to a place with shade and wind, find a place to sit down and enjoy the beautiful time. Hoan Kiem Lake is much smaller than expected. Anyway, including sitting by the lake and enjoying the wind for a long time, it should be within an hour to walk around. Of course, this may be a little relaxing for those who often hike.
At night, I walked to find food and strolled around Hanoi Old Street. I walked slowly along the street and came to a baguette shop. There was a snack I had never seen before, called bánh cuốn. I tried it and it tasted good.
After eating, we walked to the cathedral to admire the church at night. In fact, the distance is not very far, and it only takes more than ten minutes to walk there, so we can enjoy the scenery along the way.
The cathedral at night has a mysterious and vicissitudes of life under the lighting. Many people have checked in here, took a few photos and walked towards the hotel. I bought a baguette on the way, and later I will have a bottle of Hanoi beer and a Vietnamese sandwich. What kind of experience would that be?
I found a more authentic baguette that the locals in Hanoi eat. In fact, the ingredients are better and cheaper. The baguette (bánh mì) is only 12,000 VD (many stores will charge 40,000-50,000 VD). The bread is very crispy and the ingredients are very fresh. This is delicious and cheaper. Many locals buy a lot to take home and eat. There are also many who buy one and sit on a small stool next to it. I also learned to sit on a small stool to eat.
After breakfast, we packed our backpacks and water and prepared to hike to the Confucian Temple area. Looking at the map, it only took us about 20 minutes to get there. For people who often hike outdoors, this is a very easy journey.
Walking towards the Temple of Literature, in fact, Ba Dinh Square, Tran Quoc Pagoda, and Hanoi West Lake are not very far away, so you can walk all the way there. However, the weather is hot, so you need to protect yourself from the sun, so you need to wear outdoor sun protection equipment. The army of motorcycles on the street roared, and people were rushing to work, but I put down my work and everything else at this time and strolled leisurely here.
After exiting the Temple of Confucius, walk for about ten minutes to reach Ba Dinh Square. The atmosphere here suddenly becomes much more serious. There is a guard post every five steps and every ten steps. The navigation information on your mobile phone will also be lost here.
Fortunately, we came early and there were not many people visiting. After entering, the camera will be collected for safekeeping, and the water cup will also be collected, and then there will be security check. After coming out, I forgot to visit the One Pillar Pagoda, and I didn't want to go back in, so I started walking towards the West Lake and Zhenguo Temple.
However, the mobile phone navigation signal is not very stable in this area, so the walking direction can only be determined based on the offline map and the current actual situation.
After walking through Ba Dinh Square, we arrived at Hanoi West Lake not far away. The wind from the West Lake was indeed very cool. When we were walking along the lakeside and almost reaching Tran Quoc Pagoda, we were really thirsty. The water we brought was not enough because the weather was too hot. So we had to buy a bottle of water on the roadside for 10,000 VD. In fact, this kind of water only costs 3,000 VD in the local supermarket, but you can pay more if you are thirsty at the entrance of the scenic spot.
I looked at the time. It was already 1pm in Vietnam time. It was 2pm in China. I was so busy enjoying the scenery that I forgot I was hungry. Now my stomach is growling. I saw many places where locals eat on the way to West Lake. I went over and found a small shop where people were eating. When I entered the shop, there were students eating there, and some people were taking away. I asked and found that the meal was only 40,000VD or 50,000VD. I ordered a 50,000VD meal. The food was really good, and you can get your own soup. After eating, I saw the boss had iced drinks in the freezer and asked what it was. She said it was tea. In fact, the tea they said could also be the drink we said. I asked for a large cup of iced tea, which was also added with what we think is our jelly. It was really good. In such hot weather, having a cup of iced tea after dinner, and then going back to West Lake to blow the wind, is really a great enjoyment in life.
