Kouri, the "Island of Love", Okinawa's "Adam and Eve" reproduce in the reef caves of Chigunu Beach

Kouri Island is a small island with a radius of only 1 km, which can be circled in 15 minutes by car. It is connected to the main island via Yagaji Island through the 2 km long Kouri Bridge. There is a sidewalk on the bridge and you can ride a bicycle. It is about 50 minutes by car from Churaumi Aquarium.

Kouri Island is known as the "Island of Love" in Okinawa. The "Adam and Eve" in the Okinawan folk tale first lived together in the reef caves of Chigunu Beach, and now the residents of the islands in Okinawa Prefecture are all their descendants. In addition to this romantic story, there are two natural heart-shaped rocks on Tinu Beach, which are formed by years of erosion and washing by waves, and are also the symbol of the "Island of Love".

Although Tinu Beach is not the best choice for playing in the water, the two super romantic coral reef heart-shaped rocks are a very popular photo spot for couples. The Johnny's group "Arashi" once filmed an advertisement here, making it a popular attraction for many fans to pilgrimage. You can walk to the heart-shaped rocks to take photos when the tide is low. But be aware that the path to this beach is not easy to walk.

Duhai Beach is adjacent to Tinu Beach, where you can snorkel and watch fish. The natural beach here is surrounded by raised limestone, and you can see strange rocks everywhere. It is very primitive and you can enjoy it while walking.

Chigunu Beach (where the reef cave of "Adam and Eve" is located) is located under the big rock next to the embankment near Kouri Port. If you want to go down to the beach, there are steps on the reef, but they are a bit steep. In addition, the stone monument of "Tianjiangshi Likou Shinu Fire God" is erected on the reef. It is said that this is the place where the fire god descended, and the sea god festival is held here every year.

The above mentioned are all niche beaches comparable to private beaches. The facilities are not so complete. In the off-season, many shops are closed. If you want to enjoy the blue water and white sand with complete facilities, Kouri Beach under the foundation of Kouri Bridge is the best choice. This is a very mature holiday beach with convenient facilities. You can experience all kinds of sea activities you can think of. There are also many boutique coffee shops and restaurants nearby. In addition to the special food of Kouri Island, the scenery is also first-class.

When crossing the Kouri Bridge, you can see the pure white sailboat-shaped building halfway up the mountain. That is the Kouri Ocean Tower. The tower is 82 meters high and you can overlook the blue sea and the Kouri Bridge that connects to the main island across the sea. The scenery on the way to the tower by taking the tour bus is very good, and you can see the sea and the bridge. There is also a shell museum that displays various shells from all over the world, with a total number of more than 10,000. Remember to buy a special shell souvenir in the store here. Reminder, many restaurants and cafes on the island will be closed from time to time, and many meals need to be booked~
