The historic Anping Old Street District is dotted with cultural landmarks and attractions, including Anping Fort, Taiwan’s first castle, and Anping Kaitai Tianhou Temple. Tak Kee Foreign Trade Company dates back to the 18th and 19th centuries and was once one of the famous “Five Merchants of Anping”, a group that dominated the opium, camphor, and sugar trades. Today, the stately white building has been designated a historical site and is home to the Taiwan Development Wax Museum.

Behind the Tak Kee Trading Company is the Anping Tree House, which was formerly an old warehouse. After years of disrepair after the war, an old banyan tree took root and grew through the tree house, forming a unique landscape that is worth taking out your camera to capture. Visitors can purchase tickets to visit the tree house and even enjoy coffee or homemade desserts at the on-site cafe.
