Feel the history at Shanghai East Lake Hotel,It is now a building protected by the Shanghai Municipal Government.
Shanghai Donghu Hotel was built in the 1930s. The main building (No. 70 Donghu Road) is the mansion of the old Shanghai tycoon Du Yuesheng. It is now a municipally protected building in Shanghai. After 1949, these garden villas were managed by the Shanghai Garden Villa Management Office and later became the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee Guest House. After the reform and opening up in 1978, these internal guest houses were gradually opened to the outside world, and the East Lake Hotel was also opened to the outside world. This time I came to Shanghai and chose to stay at the Shanghai East Lake Hotel. This is a hotel with a history and a story, different from the modern hotels on the Bund. Donghu Road itself is an old street with history and is very close to Huaihai Road. The hotel can be said to be a quiet place in the middle of the bustle. The transportation is very convenient and there are many delicious food nearby. The biggest feeling of this stay is that the room is very spacious and higher than ordinary hotels. I chose to stay in the sun room. Although it is an old hotel, it has separated dry and wet areas. The shower and wash basin are in one room, and the toilet is in another room. There is also a small wash basin. Two wash basins are very convenient. The windows in the room are very spacious, and the sound insulation effect of the screens is very good. The windows can be opened 180 degrees flat or 30 degrees upward, which is very convenient. The most attractive thing about the hotel is the stained glass windows. There are these windows on the top floor, lobby and restaurant of the hotel. The sunlight shines through and it feels very beautiful. I have to sigh that the aesthetic level of the former architects is still worthy of praise. These decorations The design, even now, is not outdated at all. You can feel the history of a city in such a hotel, which is still a worthwhile place to stay.
