SPiCE Bar Sapporo💧, a fantastic night of indie music at Japan’s underground live house
This little girl who loves music came to Japan for the first time. She wanted to find an authentic live house to listen to Japanese independent music or an underground club to listen to techno rave. She didn't listen to jazz and didn't go to the popular jazz bars. Hokkaido seems to be much harder to find than Osaka and other places. But on the last night in Hokkaido, I decided to look for it again. I really wanted to listen to music and experience the local music atmosphere. Then I saw a blogger's recommendation - SPiCE Bar SapporoIt is a small live house. As a Chengdu person, I think it is a space like nu space. I can see the website on Google map, and I found out that there is a special New Year's performance tonight. Then I came to the place that left me with the happiest night memory in Hokkaido. I paid the ticket in cash on the spot. One hundred yuan actually included four bands and a glass of wine (you can also choose to pay more for free drinking). And tonight is to celebrate the New Year, and you can drink sake for free. People in cold places may like warm music.
The first two groups are very hard rock (the fun thing is that the order of appearance is decided by drawing lots on the spot). I haven't watched a live performance for a long time. I was so happy to shake my head. The first drum beat was enough to make me happy. I just roared a few times and the flavor came out. The third band was a dream version with a different way of jumping. Three hours passed and I thought I had reached the peak of happiness tonight, but there was actually a punk band!! Many Japanese young people came out and waited for them to audition. I knew that I should trust their ears. Then I heard the happiest band, Trast! Everyone waved their fists, danced, and shouted together. The atmosphere was very, very good. As expected, punk performances are super fun!
Everyone started to dive and spin around. But they didn't bump into people randomly. They bumped into each other with friends (I really hate being bumped into suddenly!). If someone accidentally hurt someone while diving, he would bow and apologize. Even the lead singer sang a very nice song and said very sincere words. I saw the young people next to him bowing again and again. Having a happy music experience is really a unique and exclusive happiness. At the end, everyone also brought birthday cakes. It turned out that today was the lead singer's birthday. He was so happy too. Even when it was time to end and the rest of the band had gone down, he still held his guitar and sang the songs everyone wanted to hear.
I really like the moment when music connects everyone, just like when I rode a motorcycle past a music festival in Indonesia and spent a few dozen dollars to get in and enjoy an incomparable night of beautiful music. It doesn't matter if you don't understand the language. In a small underground club, a small group of people who love music gathered together to share a wonderful night brought by music. Laugh together and jump to their heart's content. After four hours of jumping, I sobered up. I pushed open the heavy door and it was snowing. Thank you for my ears, thank you for all the beauty brought by music.
