Taipei's most comprehensive list of top hotels, each one is very comfortable
Listing criteria: This list only discusses top hotels, and does not include C1-C3 levels that are common in major first- and second-tier cities; this list does not include homestays, hotels with less than 5 bookable rooms, private estates, and unopened hotels.Ranking criteria: According to the previously released brand list, each brand hotel has a corresponding score, on which the brand's flagship hotels are awarded points and floor-level hotels are deducted points, with the increase or decrease not exceeding 3 points.
Points criteria: The corresponding points of each hotel are multiplied by the corresponding grade and weighted, and the final C4-C8 grade total score is the total score of the top hotels in the city.
If from the perspective of provincial capital cities, Taipei's 9394 points can enter the first echelon in China; but from the perspective of its first-tier cities in Asia, the four-digit score may not be worthy of its status, unless New Taipei is also counted to just exceed 10,000.
Taipei's top hotels are generally aging. From 1992 when the GDP per capita exceeded 10,000, to the 2008 financial crisis when the industry transformation was hindered and the economy slowed down, the new batch of hotels in recent years are similar to Hong Kong, which is also one of the four Asian tigers. They are mainly boutique hotels and soft brand hotels, with hotel functions removed and room area reduced.
Taipei Mandarin Oriental can get such a high score. Its well-known Asian benchmark service is definitely a weapon to improve its reputation; W relies on location and landscape, and Regent relies on historical facilities to maintain its C6 status. Further down is Asia's first Kimpton and a group of boutique hotels that have joined large groups. Hilton Garden Inn took over Elliott Place, Marriott Autograph took over Howard Plaza, AccorHotels MGallery took over S Hotel, which witnessed the epic drama, and Hyatt took root in the grassroots with the help of its partner SLH.
Taipei's current slightly depressed state will not affect the future entry of Four Seasons, Capella, Andaz and Park Hyatt; nor will it affect Taiwan's rapid progress and high score of 25,000. After all, like Japan, hot spring resources are extremely rich. Beitou, Nantou, Wulai and Yilan on the island are all famous hot spring towns.
Relais & Chateaux's 32 Hotel and Volando Wulai, Hoshinoya Guguan and Chiang Kai-shek's Lalu Sun Moon Lake are all ranked C7; local brands Volando, Silks, and Laoye, as well as international flagship brands Le Méridien, Westin and Indigo also scored high.
