The National Gallery Singapore will be the world's first art museum to display and study Southeast Asian art from the 19th century to the present, and will give Singapore a place in the international visual art field. After completion, the total area of the National Gallery Singapore will reach 60,000 square meters, of which 18,000 square meters will be exhibition halls, and the rest will be used for public purposes such as catering, interaction, and leisure. The National Gallery will have two permanent exhibition halls, the DBS Singapore Hall and the Southeast Asia Hall. At the unveiling ceremony, Singapore's DBS Bank donated 25 million Singapore dollars to the National Gallery to support local visual art creation. As a permanent exhibition hall in the museum, the DBS Singapore Hall is dedicated to displaying works that have a far-reaching impact on Singapore's art history and highlighting the artistic achievements of Singaporean artists.
In addition, the museum will also set up the Wu Guanzhong Hall and special exhibition halls to exhibit art exhibitions in cooperation with international art museums such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Pompidou Center and the Musee d'Orsay. The Singapore government attaches great importance to the construction of the National Gallery. Of the 62 million Singapore dollars invested by the government in the past five years to help the museum strengthen its collection, more than 21 million Singapore dollars have been invested in the National Gallery. The National Gallery Singapore exhibits more than 8,000 national collections. The collection is so rich and complete that it can be said to be the world's largest and most historically valuable collection of modern art from Singapore and Southeast Asia from the 19th century to the present.
