Though Hanoi is larger than Ho Chi Minh City, its population is far less than Ho Chi Minh City. It ranks second in terms of size among major cities. Agricultural development greatly predominates in the economy of Hanoi. Besides, small and medium-sized enterprises are developing quite nicely in Hanoi. In general, however, the economic competitiveness here is far less than that of Ho Chi Minh City.
Hanoi is over one thousand years old, rich in historical relics, places of interest, and known formally as the "land of thousand-year cultural relics." Here, the spirit is typically Vietnamese; it is much more pronounced, as depicted by the marketplace. While the development of the economy is inferior to that in Ho Chi Minh City, in the realm of political status and cultural heritage, Ho Chi Minh City is far inferior to Hanoi.
