There may be many more modern and luxurious hotels in Manila, Philippines, and you can go to any of them. But there is only one hotel with local characteristics and comfort. Opened in 1912 and renovated in 2019, it has a history of over a hundred years. Although the facilities are slightly old, it does not affect my evaluation of the hotel. Located on the coastline of Manila Bay, it was once a historical landmark in Manila and the oldest luxury hotel in the city. Compared with the stereotyped Conrad and Peninsula, you might as well come to The hotel manila to experience the accommodation with local characteristics.
The facade of the hotel is a relatively fresh and retro Nanyang style, with white exterior walls, green roofs and decorative lines; the interior is a very exquisite and gorgeous European style. It consists of the main wing and an old building that is a little older. The main building is more modern and is located behind the old building.
The hotel is about 11 kilometers away from Ninoy Aquino International Airport, and it takes about 15 minutes to get there by taxi. The most important thing is that the hotel's location is perfect for Tourists visiting Manila. It is only one street away from Intramuros, the Spanish Royal City where Manila's attractions are most concentrated. All attractions are within walking distance. This should be the closest and best hotel near the Royal City.
Before coming, I was worried about safety issues. I looked at many recommended five-star hotels in Makati, but they were a bit far from the attractions, so I was a little nervous when I finally booked Manila Hotel. But in the end, from my experience, the security of Manila Hotel is still in place. You need to go through security checks to enter the hotel. Bags also need to be opened for inspection, and you can often see guard dogs patrolling.
Grand Deluxe, only US$90/night, the room is 40㎡, breakfast is 1550P/person, and extra bed is 2600/bed/night. The room faces the bay, the view is very good, and the sunset at the port in the evening is super beautiful. The lobby bar has a high ceiling and a huge crystal chandelier that is very retro and perfect for taking photos. The swimming pool, tennis court, squash court, sauna, and gym are all complete, suitable for both business and leisure, and most importantly, the price-performance ratio is super high.
