I went to Hokkaido for a Trip during the New Year. Everything is more expensive on holidays. I don't recommend going on holidays. On the first day in Hokkaido, I went to Noboribetsu Hot Springs. I booked Noboribetsu Sekisui-tei. The main reason was that they had a pick-up and parking service from New Chitose Airport. Taxi service was expensive and troublesome. If you booked a hotel, you needed to call in advance to make an appointment for a pick-up and parking service. The room you booked was about $200, but it was only $120 on weekdays. The hotel's seafood buffet was really delicious and unlimited. It was really worth it to go there on weekdays. I stayed there for a day and went to the nearby Jigokudani. I wanted to take the hotel's car to Sapporo, but I forgot to make an appointment. I had no choice but to take the bus and subway to Sapporo, but I had to stand.
In Sapporo, I stayed in a girls' cabin called Gardens Cabin. It was very convenient for shopping on Tanukikoji Shopping Street, and Jozankei Suizantei. Suizantei is also worth going to, but it's not cost-effective for one person to stay there. It really feels worthwhile to soak in the open-air hot spring while watching the snow scene. Suisan Tei also has a shuttle bus from Sapporo, which is 200 meters next to the Garden House. You can check in to the Garden House and then go to Suisan Tei, and the shuttle bus will take you back to the Garden House. The shuttle bus is free, but you also need to make an appointment by phone. It supports reservations in English and Japanese.) Super beautiful hot spring hotels like this are relatively remote. So it is most convenient to find a shuttle bus.
From Sapporo to Otaru, just take the Hakodate Main Line at Sapporo Station. Get off at Minami-Otaru, and locate Otaru Station on the navigation. All the attractions you will pass along the 2km are included. Japanese instant noodles are really delicious, and the crab roe pasta from 711 must be eaten, as well as Hokkaido milk and potatoes, Sapporo soup curry, and if you have any specific questions, you can leave me a message.
