Nowadays, more and more Tourists Travel to Cebu every year. In Cebu, I usually study English at school. On weekends, I may go to local tourist attractions to change my mood. But surprisingly, many people who have been studying in Cebu for a long time have not visited local tourist attractions. Today I recommend a tourist attraction to everyone: Kawasan Falls. Maybe some people have never heard of it. But it doesn’t matter. You can use this article as a travel reference to get to know this beautiful waterfall. Let me introduce you to the Kawasan Falls in the Philippines~
Kawasan Falls in the Philippines
Kawasan Falls is located in the small town of Badian in the west of Cebu. It is a major tourist attraction in the area. It is also known by many people because it is very close to the beach resort town of Moalboal (a small town on the southwestern end of Cebu Island). The special thing about Kawasan Falls is that we can see three different layers of waterfalls, so there are many tourists who come to visit Kawasan Falls and Moalboal.
How to get to Kawasan Falls
The easiest way to visit Kawasan Falls is to join a group tour. There are still differences in the group fees of different travel agencies. Including the entrance fee to Kawasan Falls and the guide fee, it is about 2500-5000 pesos. However, some local language schools have cooperation with travel agencies, and students can enjoy some discounts when they sign up for group tours. If you want to travel independently, you can invite three or five friends to take a bus to Kawasan Falls together.
To go to the south of Cebu Island, you need to go to the "Cebu South Bus Terminal" to take a bus. The station is located in the "Colon St" area of Cebu City, "next to Elisabeth Mall" (commonly known as E mall). It is generally easy to find the station because of the convenient transportation. In short, it is very convenient to take a bus here to the southern part of Cebu Island.
Guide to taking the bus to Kawasan Falls
So which bus should you take to Kawasan Falls? Inside the station, the destination is written on the signboard of each bus. You can look carefully and find the bus with the words "BATO via BARILI".
Enter the station, each bus has a signboard with the destination. Find the bus with the words "BATO via BARILI". BATO is a small town at the southern end of Cebu Island. This bus will pass Kawasan Falls. Another thing to note is that you must not take the wrong bus, because there is another bus in the station with "BATO via OSLOB". This bus will pass OSLOB and go south to the east coast of Cebu Island, but will not reach Kawasan Falls, so everyone must look at the license plate carefully and do not take the wrong bus.
Buses are divided into two types: air-conditioned buses and ordinary buses. If you want to have a pleasant ride experience, it is recommended to take an air-conditioned bus. Although the ticket price for ordinary cars is cheap, the actual riding experience is not good, because once the windows of ordinary cars are fully opened, the noise, dust, raindrops, etc. outside will make people feel very disturbed along the way. However, both air-conditioned cars and ordinary cars can use WiFi, but the speed will be very slow.
Here I have a little suggestion: it is best to go to the bathroom before boarding. The 3-hour ride is the biggest test of the bladder. After getting on the train, ask the conductor for the destination and ask him to remind you to get off at Kawasan Falls.
Walk to Kawasan Falls
After a 3-hour ride, we finally arrived at Kawasan Falls. Since vehicles are prohibited in the scenic area, we need to walk to the waterfall. On the way to the waterfall, you can see a row of specialty stores and small shops selling coconut juice. If you are interested, you can go and ask the owner. There is a clear stream flowing beside the path. Such clear water is not seen in the city. I was amazed that there is such a scenery in Cebu Island, while enjoying the moment of tranquility away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Walking along the stream, you will soon see the ticket booth at the entrance. The waterfall is right inside the ticket booth. The ticket booth has two different ticket prices for Filipino locals and foreign tourists. Foreign tourists need to buy about US$0.8, while locals only need to buy US$0.4.
After buying the tickets, stroll around the scenic area. There is a restaurant a few steps ahead. If you choose to leave from the city in the morning, it will be almost noon when you arrive at the scenic area, so you can have lunch here. Some restaurants here will provide free use of the locker room service for customers who have consumed in the store, which is convenient for tourists who want to go swimming in the water. However, tourists who have not consumed in the store can also ask the store and spend a certain amount of pesos to use the locker room.
After lunch, continue to move forward into the forest, and you will reach the waterfall in a short while. There is a row of small shops around the waterfall. The rest tables outside the store can be rented for rest and personal belongings. The clerk will also help look after the items, so there is no need to worry about safety. If you are really worried, you can also rent a safe to put your items. Kawasan Falls is really a popular tourist attraction in Cebu Island. Looking around, there are many foreigners besides locals. In fact, Kawasan Falls attracts many tourists from Japan, South Korea, Europe and the United States every year.
The water flowing down from the valley is cool and clean. The water is quite deep, and your feet can't reach the ground. Friends who are not good at swimming should not force themselves too much. After all, safety comes first. Even if you can't swim, it's a different experience to look at the small fish in the water. Some people may want to experience what it feels like to be a monk in the mountains, so they take a bamboo raft to the bottom of the waterfall and let the rushing water hit them directly. However, as an experiencer, I tell you responsibly that it is really too painful... However, friends who are interested in "cultivation" can try to experience it. It costs about 6 US dollars to rent a raft. After all, it's a rare opportunity...
Jiahuashan Waterfall is divided into three layers. The picture above is only part of the waterfall. There is another waterfall going up. Jiahuashan Waterfall has a quiet environment, probably because there are few people. Passengers who don't want to swim can take a rest at the waterfall.
Not limited to swimming, the charm of Jiahuashan Falls is revealed
In fact, Jiahuashan Falls is not only for swimming, "canyoning" is also a popular activity for tourists. Canyoning is an outdoor activity that allows you to enjoy the natural scenery while experiencing water drifting. Visitors can sit in a kayak and go downstream, slide in the natural slide formed by the erosion of the water, and rush forward in the rapids, feeling the beautiful natural scenery and the thrilling water drifting.
There are also many places in Moalboal where you can experience water drifting activities. Tour guides generally recommend tourists to go there, but I personally recommend that you learn more about the water drifting activities from the staff before making a decision.
Return Trip
If you are in a hurry to return, you can return from the scenic spot at 3 pm. If you are not in a hurry, you can leave before 5 pm and return to the place where you first got off to take the return bus.
When waiting for the taxi, you may encounter a group of very "enthusiastic" taxi drivers who will keep persuading you to take a taxi back to Cebu. However, if you find that the price and time are acceptable after negotiating with the driver, then renting a car to go back is also a good way.
If you don't want to take a taxi, you can also choose to take an air-conditioned van called "V HIRE". However, this kind of car must be full before it can depart, so passengers may need to wait for a while before departure. The return speed is very fast, and the driver drives rudely... So it is recommended that friends who are prone to motion sickness should not take "V HIRE", but if you are in a hurry to return, you can also choose to take it.
The above is a brief introduction to my visit to Kawasan Falls and the round-trip itinerary. If any friends want to visit this attraction, you can include the Kawasan Falls itinerary in the next trip. Of course, you can use my experience as a reference, and the specific itinerary should still be based on the travel guide you have made. |
