Wat Phra That Hariphunchai Woramahawihan is located in Lamphun Province. It is one of the most important and oldest temples in northern Thailand. With a history of more than 1,000 years, this temple is the center of Buddhism in Lamphun and an important cultural and artistic landmark for the Thai people.

Wat Phra That Hariphunchai was founded by Queen Chamthewi in 1651. The temple in Hariphunchai (now Lamphun) is where the Buddha's relics are kept. Therefore, it is respected and believed by Buddhists.
Wat Hariphunchai has Lanna architectural style. It is a unique temple with beautiful buildings and structures such as
Chedi Phra That Hariphunchai: This is a tall and beautiful bell-shaped pagoda.
Wihan Luang: This is a large temple that houses the main Buddha image.
Bell Tower: It is a tall building used for ringing bells during various ceremonies.
Events and Festivals
1. Patta Bathing Festival: Held on the full moon day of the sixth lunar month (a northern water splashing tradition), villagers gather to splash water on Patta for blessings.
2. Annual Traditional Event: This is a large event held between November and December. Various cultural activities, performances and booths are held.
Wat Phra That Hariphunchai is located in Lamphun. It is about 30 km from downtown Chiang Mai and can be reached by car, bus or train.
Private car: Take Highway 106 from Chiang Mai to Lamphun. It takes about 40 minutes.
Bus: There is a bus service from Chiang Mai Bus Terminal to Lamphun Bus Terminal.
Train: There is a train service from Chiang Mai Train Station to Lamphun Train Station. It takes about 1 hour
