The Vietnam Museum of Anthropology was built in 1987, completed in 1995, and officially opened to the public on November 12, 1997. The museum displays various artworks and daily necessities, including traditional Vietnamese musical instruments, conical bamboo hats, kerosene lamps, etc., supplemented by maps, images, models, etc., which vividly show tourists the cultural development history and living customs of the Vietnamese people. There is an old thatched house built with wooden piles in the museum, about 3 meters above the ground.
Visitors need to climb up the platform of the bamboo house from the inclined wooden ladder in front of the house, and then walk into the house in slippers, which is very unique. The roof of this old thatched house is covered with thick hay, and the front and back ridges are at a 70-degree angle, making the thatched house unusually tall. Various daily necessities used by the Vietnamese people are displayed in the house. The floor and inner walls of the thatched house are paved with smooth bamboo strips, and the bottom layer of bamboo strips on the ground is supported by thick wooden sticks. It is said that it is designed to adapt to the climate of Vietnam and is unique.
