As a major city in Japan, Osaka also has many unique bars. Today, I will share 8 recommended bars in Osaka, including sake bars, beer bars and mixology bars. You can choose according to your preferences. Each bar is a characteristic bar in Osaka, and I have tried them myself. Just follow them and you will not step on thunder. Make your nightlife in Osaka more exciting!

Osaka Bar Recommendation #1|Sake Republic

Sake Republic is a sake bar in Shinsaibashi, hidden on the fifth floor of a building. From the outside, it looks a bit like an office space, but once you bravely push the door and go in, you will find a different world. The decoration is simple and warm, and the triangular window can see the night view of Shinsaibashi, which is very atmospheric. The coolest thing is that the owner of this Osaka sake bar is Taiwanese, very professional in sake, and there are many rare or special sake options outside. If you don’t know how to drink it, just ask the owner to recommend it!

There is no specific wine list for ordering wine. It is mainly based on different wines. There are four categories: special price of the day, recommended wine, selected wine and top rare wine. Each glass ranges from $500-$5,000. Those who don’t drink sake can also choose red wine, white wine, beer, etc. I also have to highly recommend the Sichuan braised food platter, which is super delicious whether eaten alone or with sake. I will never forget the taste even after returning to Taiwan!

[#2] Osaka Bar Recommendation #2|Sake Museum

Sake Museum has many branches across Japan, with 19 in Osaka alone. With the concept of "introducing bar culture into various life scenes", many branches are directly opened in FamilyMart convenience stores, allowing you to buy snacks and a few glasses of whiskey directly in the convenience store. Whether you come alone for a drink or get together with friends, it is very suitable, and the price is very affordable.

The main type of alcohol sold here is whiskey, ranging from cheap to rare. I went to the Osaka Station 1st Building store, which is on the same floor as the Craftroom introduced below. This branch is in the form of a standing bar, and each standing position has an outlet, which is very suitable for having a drink when you are tired of shopping and charging your phone at the same time.

Osaka Bar Recommendation #3|Craftroom

Craftroom, which won the 50 Best Bars in Asia in 2024, is also the only Osaka bar selected. It is located on the second floor of a busy commercial building in Umeda. The sign is not very conspicuous and needs a little attention. No reservations are accepted and the space is not large. You may need to wait during popular hours. The wine list is divided into classics and special blends. There are also some snacks for sale, such as wagyu beef jerky, pickled cucumbers and other wine snacks. The different flavors of pies every month are also very popular.

This time, I ordered three cocktails, from the classic Negrioni to the special Eral Gray Martini, all of which were delicious. Sitting at the bar and watching the boss carefully mix the cocktails was also a kind of enjoyment. If you are a person who likes cocktails, this Osaka Umeda bar is recommended to visit.

Osaka Bar Recommendation #4|Bible Club Osaka

Bible Club Osaka is a bar located in Shinsaibashi. It is a secret bar style bar and is the sister store of Bible Club PDX in Portland. You have to push open an inconspicuous wooden door and walk down the stairs to the basement to see it. However, when you open the door of the basement, you feel like you are in a different world. The decoration inside is low-key and luxurious, with the atmosphere of the American Prohibition period. The retro accessories and decorations are very atmospheric. The most distinctive features here are cocktails and whiskey. If you like whiskey, there are many choices here. The bartenders are also very professional (and speak fluent English). If you have difficulty choosing, you can directly ask them for recommendations!

However, please note that this Osaka bar charges a seat fee of $800 per person, which comes with a small snack. Compared with other Osaka bartenders, it is a more expensive option.

Osaka Bar Recommendation #5|Umineko

If you like to drink beer, you can only choose one beer bar in Osaka. This is the most recommended one. It was recommended by the staff of Bible Club. It was actually very good! The store is small and there are no seats. It can accommodate about 7 people. If the store is full, you can take out and drink. Umineko also offers about 8-10 different styles of craft beers from all over Japan. The beer list also clearly states the bitterness and alcohol content of each beer. I tried almost every beer that day and had a great time chatting with other drinkers nearby. They also sell a small amount of snacks, such as curry rice, beef rolls, etc. It is an Osaka beer bar that I would like to visit again.

Osaka Bar Recommendation #6|cafe & beer Arca→Archa

This beer bar is located near the accommodation. The wooden door and various decorations are retro and cute. The seats inside can accommodate about 20 people. The outdoor seats should be quite comfortable if the weather is cool. The store offers about 8 types of draft beer or canned beer, and there is also a flight combination of three cups, which is suitable for people who want to try different types of beer. In addition to beer, they also sell some staple foods and side dishes. You can order directly using an iPad. It's very user-friendly!

Osaka Bar Recommendation #7|Bar Nayuta

Bar Nayuta is a secret bar located in the American Village in Osaka. It is hidden on the fifth floor of a residential building. The door looks like an abandoned iron door, but don't hesitate to push it open! The style inside is very unique, with dim lights and graffiti all around, giving it a Japanese decadent feel. This Osaka bar does not have a wine list. You mainly tell the bartender what flavor you like, and he will make it for you. There are not many seats in the store, about 15, and reservations are not accepted. Both the customers and the bartender look cool and have personality. I casually chose a cocktail with a strong wine flavor and tea aroma, and the bartender did not disappoint my expectations and made a perfect flavor. However, smoking is not prohibited in the store, and even the bartenders smoke, so those who are sensitive to the smell of smoke should be careful.

Osaka Bar Recommendation #8|Sake Zui

For sake lovers, in addition to the Sake Republic recommended above, another recommended sake bar in Osaka is Sake Zui. It mainly sells sake by the glass, and the price is clearly marked on each bottle. There are many rare or expensive sakes here. If you can't afford to buy a whole bottle, it is very suitable to experience it by the glass here. I drank 14 generations twice here, which is out of stock in many stores! The store also sells some simple snacks, but the owner and the staff don't speak English very well, so if you don't speak Japanese, you can only communicate with simple gestures. In addition, all seats in the store are standing!
