Hotel G Singapore. A small and stylish design hotel in Bugis district (formerly BIG Hotel)

Accommodation in Singapore is really expensive. The J8 Hotel where I stayed a few days ago had very good reviews on Tripadvisor. I like the BIG HOTEL design hotel where I stayed today even more. It is the best value accommodation in this trip to Singapore. Although The room space is not much different from that of J8 Hotel, but the design is much better. It is a small but well-equipped hotel.

BIG HOTEL is located between MRT Bugis Station and Bras Basah Station. Take the Green Line (EW Line) from the airport to Bugis Station. It takes about 8 to 10 minutes to walk to the hotel from Exit C. There is also a Circle Line nearby. At Bras Basah Station, you can take the Ferris Wheel, Sands, and Esplanade Center in the Marina District. The transportation location is very convenient.




Walking in the direction of BIG HOTEL from Bugis Station, you will pass the Bugis+ shopping mall with a very special appearance. It has a food court, restaurants, and cafes. It is very convenient for shopping and dining. The white tiles on the exterior wall will also glow at night. It looks more beautiful when photographed.



BIG HOTEL opened in May 2013. It had only been open for less than a year when I moved in. It was a very new hotel and looked quite fashionable.



On the first floor of the hotel, there is Singapore's supermarket chain Cheers. Within a three-minute walk, there is FairPricexpress, a small 7 and a small Mega Star mnimart, as well as 24-hour food stalls. If you are short of daily necessities, or if you are hungry in the middle of the night and want to buy a late-night snack, you can find it here. All very convenient.



The first floor is a bar. Walk along the spiral staircase to B1 to reach the hotel counter. If you have luggage, you can take the elevator downstairs without having to carry it yourself.



On the left side of the spiral staircase is The Nook Cafe, which is also where tenants have breakfast. In mid-2014, it was renovated into the Froth Cafe, which provides more food choices. You can have lunch and dinner here if you don’t want to go out.



When I checked in, there was a sports bar on the first floor. The environment looked very comfortable. There was a big TV where you could watch sports events, shoot darts, and play pool. However, according to the news on the official website, it was renovated in April 2015 and is now Tipple Wine & Whiskey Bar. The whole atmosphere is different.







Next to the bar is a small gym, open from 6:00 in the morning to 12:00 in the morning. There are two treadmills, two bicycle machines, and muscle training equipment. Although there is no dedicated screen in front of each machine, It has a city view, which feels good.




The hotel lobby area is very similar to Muji's home display area. It has large comfortable sofas and TVs. It is simple and has a sense of design. The wonderful thing is that many guests sit here and watch movies, as if they are visiting a friend's house. Also because too many people were resting here in the lobby, it was inconvenient to take pictures, so I only took pictures at night. It actually looks more beautiful during the day.




There is an internet area next to the sofa, and a luggage scale is also prepared for guests to weigh themselves before taking the flight to see if they are overweight. If you are overweight on a low-cost airline, you will be charged a very high overweight fee. It is recommended to measure the weight first, and if necessary, quickly go online to purchase additional checked baggage weight.



There are three elevators in the hotel. In order to ensure the safety of guests, a sensor room card is required to press the floor. There are water dispensers and ice machines on each floor. The guest rooms are distributed on the 5th to 16th floors, with a total of 308 rooms. Our room is Room 0822.

The hotel has a total of five room types. In addition to suites, the superior, deluxe and executive rooms have similar layouts, ranging in size from 12 to 16 square meters, which are as small as Japanese hotels. The room I stayed in was the smallest superior room, only about three square feet. There was a bathroom on the right side of the room, and a large bed beyond that. Although the space was small, the simple color scheme and wooden decoration made it feel elegant and tasteful. First impression is very good.



There is a full-length mirror in the hallway where you enter, and there are several hangers to hang clothes.



The bathroom is not big, with a toilet on one side and a shower room on the other side. The shower room uses a shower curtain to separate dry and wet areas. In addition to the shower head, there is also a large shower head with enough water, making it very comfortable to take a bath.




Because there is no room for a sink in the bathroom, the mini sink is designed outside, with towels, laundry bags and disposable slippers placed underneath. The hair dryer and toothbrush set are placed on a small platform next to the sink. The hair dryer has sufficient air volume and there is a socket below, taking into account the convenience of the guests.




Because the room is small, the photos taken are very partial. I will post a photo from the official website so that everyone can see the overall appearance of the room. I really need to praise the bed at BIG HOTEL. Not only does the bedding have good texture and feel, but the mattress is also very comfortable to lie on. It’s super easy to sleep on!




There is space for the suitcase under the bed. Take out the necessary things from the suitcase, and the suitcase can be covered and placed under the bed. The safe is also designed under the bed, and can be opened to store things. The space is fully utilized and practicality is considered.




The 32-inch LCD TV doesn't feel too big, but because the distance from the bed to the wall is not far, it doesn't feel too small. What's great is that there are many free movies to watch. If you are tired from walking during the day and don't want to go out anymore, just stay in the room. Watching movies is also great.



In order not to take up space on the desk, use the upwardly developed shelves to store ice buckets, thermos bottles, cups and tea/coffee bags. There is a universal socket and two USB connectors in front of the table. Even the micro USB charging cable is ready. The light switches are also next to the bed, so considerate!




Since the accommodation plan we booked did not include breakfast, we went to Ya Kun, which is 2 minutes away from the hotel, and ate delicious kaya toast and French toast.



The hotel was taken over by the Hotel G Group in November 2016. The public spaces were completely renovated and the rooms were slightly adjusted. They still have a sense of design, but the overall style is more fashionable.





Overall, this area is really convenient. There are three MRT lines, several bus stops, as well as food centers and shopping malls. The hotel is new and has a sense of design. Although the room is small, it is very comfortable to stay in, especially the bed is very good to sleep on. There are many free movies to watch. The only small drawback is that there is no refrigerator in the room. If you buy iced drinks or The fruit must be dealt with immediately after returning to the room. For a 3,000-yuan hotel, I think it's a great value and I recommend it to everyone.
