I climbed Fansipan, the highest peak in Southeast Asia, on the weekend. It is in Sapa, Vietnam, very close to Hanoi, only 5-6 hours away. There are few guides for climbing this mountain online, and they are not detailed. I will write one for your reference.
1. You can choose to go up and down the cable car. Go directly to Sapa Station in Figure 9 to buy a round-Trip ticket. It seems to be around 1100K vnd, about 300 RMB. The cable car boarding point is also this station. It is suitable for lazy people. The cable car is more than six kilometers long, which is quite worth it. It is the third longest cable car in the world. The first one should also be in Bana Mountain in Da Nang, Vietnam.
2. Hike up the mountain and take the cable car down the mountain. It is also my itinerary, suitable for a full day trip. The hike up the mountain must start at 8 o'clock in the morning. The mountain road is 11 kilometers long. It is not as mature as the mountains in China. It is still a relatively primitive mountain road. There are very few Chinese people. Our guide said that he was the first group of Chinese people. You must find a guide for hiking. There are not many climbers, the road conditions are primitive, there are forks, and it is difficult to find the mountain road without a guide. For a person with normal physical strength, the whole Journey can be completed in eight hours. You will reach the top at 4 pm, take photos and enjoy the scenery for an hour, and take the last cable car down the mountain at 5 pm. The guide fee is about 1100K vnd, more than 300 RMB. You need to buy a return cable car ticket at the top of the mountain. 800K vnd during the week and 850k vnd on the weekend (only 1100K for the whole journey). This itinerary costs 70 US dollars per person, and the guide will provide a lunch at the halfway point.
3. A two-day and one-night itinerary also requires a guide. Start climbing at 90 am on the first day, arrive at the halfway point rest camp at around 4 pm, eat, and prepare to sleep. There is no hotel on the mountain, only a camp of small broken wooden houses. You need sleeping bags and warm clothes. It is still very cold on the mountain. The guide may provide sleeping bags. Get up at 4 am the next day, climb for two hours, reach the top at 6 pm to watch the sunrise, and then walk down the mountain. The guide quoted a price of about 1800k. I think this itinerary is unnecessary. The accommodation conditions on the top of the mountain are poor, and it is easy to climb the mountain in one day. After taking the cable car down, you can do something else.
