This time, I recommend two temples on the Nene-no-michi, Kodaiji Temple and Daiun-in Temple, as well as a cafe in Entoku-in Temple. Speaking of Kodaiji Temple, it is also a famous place for viewing maple leaves that is well known to locals in Kyoto. Daisho-zaka (pictures 1 and 7) alone has won too many other temples. Although it is still summer, you should be able to imagine the grand occasion here during the red leaf season. Another famous place in Kodaiji Temple is its own bamboo forest (pictures 5-6), which is a smaller version of the Arashiyama bamboo forest, but I personally feel that it is far better than Arashiyama just because there are few Tourists.

Entoku-in Temple next to it is the residence of Kita-mango in his later years. It is much simpler than Kodaiji Temple. A Japanese teacher commented: The meaning of Entoku-in Temple is that when you have to queue up to buy tickets at Kodaiji Temple, you can go to Entoku-in Temple to buy a pass and enter Kodaiji Temple directly to enjoy the red leaves. However, I personally like a coffee shop near Entoku-in (pictures 12, 13, 14). The coffee is not very good, but after buying coffee, the old lady in the shop will give you a paper-folded Totoro. The lady recommends putting it in a transparent phone case, so I put it in immediately!

Finally, the Gion Pavilion of Daiun-in Temple (picture 9), which was reopened after six years this summer. I bought a ticket and went in immediately. I can only say that it is very worthwhile. The walls are covered with murals of various dynasties in China (painted by Chinese painters), and you can see the scenery of Kyoto from the top. I used to have a very low opinion of the scenery of Kyoto. Whether it is Kyoto Tower or Inariyama, or some mountain temples in the city, every time I look at the scenery of Kyoto from a high place, I am basically disappointed.

Until I climbed up to Gion Pavilion. I can only say that Okura Kihachiro knew how to enjoy it. From Gion Pavilion, whether it is Heian Shrine or Gozan Sending Fire, Nanzenji Temple or Yasaka Tower, Reiyama Kannon Kodaiji Temple Kyoto Tower, Kyoto University and many other attractions, all of them are in full view, and there are things to see in every direction with a 360-degree view. The location is so good. All photography and videography are prohibited in Gion Pavilion, and standing on the top of the tower to shoot outside is not allowed, so the only way to enjoy this shock and touch is to climb to the top of the tower yourself. The things you experience in Gion Pavilion cannot be taken away, and can only be left in memory.

By the way, the original purpose of Okura Kihachiro to build Gion Pavilion was to watch the Gion Festival. When other people were crowded to watch the parade, the baron could have a panoramic view of the four-jo scenery from Gion Pavilion. Isn't it beautiful? But he probably didn't expect that many new buildings were built in Kyoto after the war, completely blocking the four-jo, resulting in the current Gion Pavilion completely unable to enjoy the Gion Festival parade.
