Nabucco Island Resort Derawan is ideally located on the east coast of Borneo in the Sulawesi Sea. Built on our own private island in a protected lagoon, the resort was built in 2001 and covers an area of approximately 2 hectares, offering 18 rooms. There are several small beaches on the island where visitors can swim and sunbathe at high tide. The exotic resort combines the charm of nature with a family atmosphere.
During the construction of this holiday paradise, we preserved the natural vegetation so as not to damage the ecology. Perhaps this is why coconut crabs still call Nabucco their home, flying foxes and various small lizards can still be seen inhabiting the island.
Nabucco has 12 cottages, including 18 rooms (9 sea view rooms, 7 garden rooms and 2 suites), twin rooms and double rooms are available, all rooms are equipped with air conditioning, ceiling fan, minibar, mosquito net, desk, separate open bathroom with shower, hot and cold water, bath towels. 24-hour electricity supply, 220V voltage, power adapter required (bring your own). Each spacious beachfront cottage has a terrace with lazy chairs and direct access to the beach. Two of the cottages are located in a tropical garden, surrounded by coconut trees and lush vegetation.

Seafront Room There are 9 rooms in total, including 8 townhouses and 1 independent cottage. It is a beach at low tide and a sea view at high tide.

Day Trips to Kakaban and Sangalaki, as well as dive sites in the northernmost and southern parts of Maratua Atoll can be arranged (2 dives for half day trips, 3 dives for full day trips, no return to resort). Maximum depth of dives is 30 meters, Deco is not allowed, dive computer is mandatory, guide to guest ratio is 1:6.
Our dive center has 3 modern dive boats made of fiberglass. Each boat is powered by two Yamaha/Suzuki engines with a power of 70 to 150 hp. Our boats can take you to the dive sites quickly and safely. On board each boat are oxygen, first aid kit, mobile phone or radio. Despite the remote location of our resort, we are able to provide Nitrox tanks (extra charge).
Diving is available all year round, with water temperatures between 26 and 30 degrees. The resort will be closed between January and February. Please consult customer service for specific times. Occasionally, strong winds and heavy rains may affect diving activities.
Maratua Atoll
The dive sites around Nabucco are known for their biodiversity and nutrient-rich currents from the Pacific Ocean. Most dive sites include intact reef cliffs, making this one of the best dive sites in Borneo. Due to the strong currents, you can see many large fish.
Kakaban (about 45 minutes by boat)
Seventy percent of Kakaban Island is made up of a saltwater lake surrounded by a dense jungle. Here you have the opportunity to snorkel with various non-venomous jellyfish. At the dive site "Barracuda Point", divers often see reef sharks, leopard sharks and a large group of sea wolves. If you are lucky, you can even see hammerhead sharks.
Sangalaki (about 60 minutes by boat)
This is a world-famous Manta observation point, and these dive sites will make your heart beat faster. Manta can be seen almost all year round, and an encounter with Manta is an unforgettable event. In addition, there are beautiful and intact coral reefs here, and countless turtles lay eggs on the beaches of Sangalaki.
