As a traveler to a new paradise, while it is important to have such information, one should be always conscious of the latest alerts issued by the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Vietnamese Ministry of Health. It may be of further necessity to check against travel advisories as issued by these organizations with one's own government, allowing them to be advised if its citizens are safe to travel there. Individual health risks should always be weighed along with one's vaccination status, potential quarantine or testing prior to departure or upon return, and other relevant provisions.
The pandemic has brought onboard the challenges that many other cities across the world are either accustomed to or had yet to encounter. The situation can change in a short time; hence stay abreast with the information regarding any restriction or guideline such as vaccination, testing, quarantine, and restrictions that may apply locally against gatherings or events. Following them will protect you and the community as well.
1. Vaccinate: The Vietnamese wish to see every person aged six or older vaccinated against because COVID-19 represents a severe illness and hospitalization risk.
2. Face Mask: Wearing a face mask indoors or when interacting with people should be maintained, primarily if one has been in close contact with someone suspected of being ill from the infection or has stayed for extended periods at the airport or public transport.
3. Hand wash: Hands should be washed with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, alternatively, alcohol-based handwash will be provided at airports and transport stations.
4. Avoid contact with sick individuals: If you are in close contact with another person who is showing suspect symptoms for COVID (e.g., coughing, fever), you should avoid close contact whenever possible.
5. Practice social-distancing: Maintain six feet distance from other individuals, especially in crowded areas, airports, train/bus stations, and markets.
6. Place particular attention on food hygiene and beverages: Ensure clearly that the foods and beverages are clean and disinfected; be careful not to eat or drink from dirty surfaces or from street vendors.
7. Check travel plans regularly: Keep updated on any local government announcements affecting travel restrictions or recommendations.
8. Make preparations ahead of time: Arrange to have flight, accommodation, and transport bookings made well in advance to allow for closures and policy delays.
