2. Lantern Festival:
The Lantern Festival is on January 15 of the lunar calendar, which is the 15th day of the Chinese New Year. Traditionally, the Chinese New Year ends only after the Lantern Festival. During the Lantern Festival, cities in Taiwan will choose a theme to hold their own celebrations. For example, the Taipei Lantern Festival will feature lanterns full of modern designs; the Kaohsiung Lantern Festival will be held along the Love River, with traditional and modern lanterns on display, and the lanterns will spread along the main roads near the celebration venue. The Pingxi Town Sky Lantern Festival in the suburbs of Taipei is one of the largest sky lantern festivals in the world, where thousands of sky lanterns are placed for blessing on the night of the Lantern Festival.
