1. By air:
By far, the quickest and most efficient way of transport is by airplane. Multiple daily flights operate between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi by many airlines, including Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air, and Bamboo Airways. The duration of the flight is approximately 2 hours. Tickets can be purchased online from the airline website or from travel booking platforms like Expedia, Skyscanner, and Booking.com.
2. By train:
Taking a slower train is yet another scenic way to travel. It may take some 30 to 36 hours, depending on the type of train and the number of stops. There are daily trains operated from Saigon Train Station to Hanoi Train Station. The travelers can choose between soft sleeper, hard sleeper, or seat type for carriage. It is advisable to book the tickets in advance, especially during the peak tourist season. Tickets can be purchased at the train station, at travel agencies, or via the Vietnam Railways website or any reliable travel booking sites.
3. By bus:
The bus alternative is relatively low-cost yet tedious. The journey takes around 36-40 hours, stopping numerous times en route. It is serviced by multiple bus companies whose offices can be found at the main bus stations in Ho Chi Minh City. Although they are not as comfortable as the train, some buses do provide sleeper berths for overnight travel. Tickets can be purchased at the bus station or from local travel agencies.
