Asahidake→Kurodake, the first volcano hike in Daisetsuzan National Park, with different landscapes and experiences. The total length is 17 kilometers, with a total climb of 1,600 meters and 6 hours and 50 minutes. The track is in picture 14, using AllTrails. There are very few people hiking on the road, and there is no signal, so offline tracks are necessary. I stayed at K’s house and Sounkyo hostel in Asahidake and Kurodake Sounkyo respectively. The youth hostels in Japan are among the cleanest in all the countries I have visited.
The section of climbing to the top of Asahidake is very windy (the weather station shows level 8), and there are no guardrails on the steep slope. It is a bit difficult to climb with weight. I have to lie on the rocks for a while to avoid the wind every few steps. Jackets, quick-drying clothes, and trekking poles are essential
After that, most Tourists returned to the mountain by the same route. Those who crossed to Kurodake took another route. There is still about 4/5 of the road without any shelter. The scenery at Mamiyadake is great, you can overlook the crater, and the wind is also small. Finally, the descent from the top of Kurodake is also full of steep slopes. Carrying 15 kg is not friendly to the knees, so knee pads are also necessary.
At present, there is still golden yellow at the foot of the mountain, and there are not many red leaves. Some places are starting to be bald. The autumn viewing is coming to an end. Let's go to Otaru today to see what will happen.
Go: Sapporo🚌Asahikawa🚌At the foot of Asahidake
Return: Kurodake Sounkyo Town🚌Asahikawa🚌Sapporo
I feel that the bus is not much slower than JR, but it is almost half the price
