Kimpton Da'an Taipei is a Tourist resting place hidden in the city. I have seen Taipei Mandarin Oriental, Taipei Grand Hyatt and Le Méridien before. I feel that although these hotels are classic, they are a bit old. A friend recommended the newer Kimpton Da'an in the post, so I decided to try it this time.
Kimpton Da'an gives people a feeling of "hiding in the city". It focuses on small and beautiful urban design hotels with young style. In addition, it is relatively new and cost-effective. It is indeed a more surprising accommodation experience. But the room is too small and the hardware is indeed a disadvantage. The next hotel worth looking forward to in Taipei is the Capella, which is about to open, and the Park Hyatt Taipei, which seems to be a long way off.
Kimpton Da'an Taipei should be the first Kimpton hotel in Asia (if I remember correctly). It opened in 2019. Although it has been 6 years, it is still one of the newer options in Taipei, a city where new hotels are scarce.
Youthful design style
The style of Kimpton Daan Hotel is youthful, and the design combines modern art and local Taiwanese elements. The color tones are mainly dark blue, dark green and wood, which are both textured and energetic. The decoration of the lobby and public areas is very design-oriented.
Although the hardware is not as good as that of the old hotels, it is cost-effective
Compared with old luxury hotels such as Mandarin Oriental Taipei, Kimpton Daan's hardware is indeed a certain gap, and the public areas are relatively small. However, the hotel is relatively new and has a high cost-effectiveness.
Very convenient transportation
The hotel is in a very good location. It is located in Daan District. There are many cafes, restaurants and boutiques around. It is within walking distance to Zhongxiao East Road and Dunhua South Road. It is very convenient for shopping and eating. It is also close to the MRT station, which is very convenient for Travel.
Service exceeded expectations
The service is a highlight of this stay, which is better than the Taipei hotels I have stayed in before. The staff is friendly, responsive, and the details are well done.
The room is not big
The room is not big, a bit similar to the style of Andaz under the Hyatt Group, and even if we want to be extreme, it can be said to be somewhat similar to the high-end Atour or All Seasons in China. Although the space is limited, it is still comfortable to live in. What is more strange is that the room actually has a balcony, but the balcony door was blocked by the sofa during the design, resulting in poor lighting in the room (the last picture). It is possible that the building was intended to be a residence when it was developed before, and was finally changed to a hotel.
The dining experience is acceptable
The hotel's restaurant and bar are very distinctive. The breakfast is a la carte + buffet, the quality is good, especially the local specialties are very sincere. The happy hour in the evening feels a bit similar to Andaz.
Others
The hotel's gym is not big, suitable for simple exercise
