The Magellan Cross is a cross that was erected by the Portuguese and Spanish expedition led by Magellan when they arrived in Cebu, Philippines on April 8, 1521.

The Magellan Cross is kept in a chapel next to the Santo Niño Basilica on Magellan Street, just in front of Cebu's City Hall. The sign below the cross in the center of the chapel explains that the original cross was wrapped in a wooden cross to protect the original cross, and was partially chiseled away by people who did not believe it had magical powers.

However, some people believe that the original cross has been destroyed or disappeared after Magellan's death, and this cross is just a replica made by the Spanish after they successfully colonized the Philippines.

The Magellan Cross is the symbol of Cebu, and the image of the chapel appears in the center of the city emblem. It is also regarded as a symbol of Roman Catholicism in the Philippines. This is one of the most famous attractions in Cebu and one of the most famous historical events in Philippine history. To some extent, the cross also represents the beginning of the colonization of the Philippines. There is no ticket here, and you can finish the Tour by queuing for photos in 3 minutes when there are few people.
