I stayed at InterContinental West Lake Hotel in Hanoi on a business Trip - Recommended index 5 stars, suitable for business Travelers and couples' anniversaries, not suitable for family travel.
1. # Location: 5 stars
The hotel is located in the north of West Lake in Hanoi, and the entire hotel is built by the lake. It takes about 15 minutes to get to Hanoi Old Town without traffic jams, and about 40 minutes to get to Hanoi Airport. Compared with the hustle and bustle of the old town, it is very quiet here. There are many spas around, and there are not many restaurant choices. The hotel next door can experience golf in the lake in about 10 minutes' walk.
2. # Lobby and check-in service: 5 stars
The hotel combines the design of modern resort hotels with local characteristics of Vietnam. Phalaenopsis orchids are placed everywhere in the lobby, and the 5-story-high crystal chandeliers are shining. When checking in, we encountered a problem with the hotel system. The front desk staff arranged for us to rest in the cafe next to us and arranged drinks (you can also order food). Although we waited for about 15 minutes, the overall experience was good.
3. # Rooms: 4.5 stars
Compared to ordinary resort hotels, the rooms are not very spacious, but they have everything you need. Because it is by the lake, the hotel has arranged a dehumidifier, and the room does not have any damp smell. Each room has a very spacious balcony, and it seems nice to sit on the balcony for a conference call. The bathroom is not very regular, and the fully automatic toilet immediately raises the hotel's grade by one level. The hotel's slippers are very comfortable, better than the average 5-star hotel. * Picky time: The hotel's bed and pillows are very comfortable, but be careful of the twin bed room, the bed is 1.2 meters, and it feels like you will fall off the bed if you turn over. The hotel's water pressure is average, which is a bit disappointing. The room also has no luggage rack that can hold a large suitcase, so you have to put the luggage on the floor. The hotel uses wooden blinds instead of bed curtains, which feels a bit light-transmitting in the morning and can't sleep in.
4. #Members' Lounge: 5 stars
The members' lounge is on the first floor of the hotel. If IHG Group Platinum Card members choose the members' lounge as a benefit, they can go to have breakfast, afternoon tea, and a free buffet between 6 and 8 pm, and can also use the meeting room for 1 hour. The buffet dinner is very rich and basically meets the requirements of a formal meal. The afternoon tea tastes good too. The lounge is decorated with a variety of colorful heavy-color oil paintings, which is very appropriate.
5. # Breakfast: 5 stars
Breakfast is on the first floor of the hotel. There are Western, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indian, and Vietnamese local rice noodles and snacks. The honey bar is amazing. I have stayed in many 5-star hotels, but this is the first time I have seen so many honey choices. It is the best breakfast I have experienced recently.
6. # Fitness and entertainment: 5 stars
There is a separate small building for fitness in front of the hotel lobby. The equipment is a bit old, and it can feel a bit damp because it is next to the lake. The swimming pool is also on the first floor, close to the hotel lobby. The temperature is not high now, so it is not suitable for swimming, but it is still very pleasant to sit by the pool and enjoy the lake view. Many Internet celebrities take pictures in the hotel. The hotel seems to be a must-visit place in Hanoi.
In general, the hotel is beautiful and comfortable, and the catering (breakfast and member lounge) is very good.
