The Vietnam Museum of Anthropology was built in 1987, completed in 1995 and officially opened to the public on November 12, 1997. The museum displays various artworks and daily necessities including traditional Vietnamese musical instruments, conical hats, kerosene lamps, etc., supplemented by maps, videos and models, which truly and vividly show the cultural development history and living customs of the Vietnamese people to visitors. There is an old thatched house built on wooden piles in the museum, about 3 meters above the ground. Visitors need to climb up the platform of the bamboo house from the inclined wooden ladder in front of the house, and then walk into the house in slippers, which is very unique. The roof of this old thatched house is paved with thick hay, and the front and back ridges are at an angle of 70 degrees, making the thatched house unusually tall. The house is filled with various daily necessities once used by the Vietnamese people. The floor and inner walls of the thatched house are paved with smooth bamboo strips, and the bottom layer of bamboo strips is supported by thick wooden sticks. It is said that it was designed to adapt to the climate of Vietnam, which is unique.
