The Haflington Bar in Hanoi, one of the top 50 bars in Asia, is attracted by the huge dinosaur skeleton

The must-visit stop for drunkards in Hanoi is The Haflington Bar, which ranks the highest in the 50 Best Asian Bars in Vietnam (47th) this year. I was attracted by the huge dinosaur skeleton before I came. I heard that the wine list is also very rich, so I made an appointment in advance.

The bar is located in a tube building (Vietnamese bars feel like this style). There will be a guy in a suit and a slicked-back hair standing downstairs to be responsible for reception, so you don’t have to worry about not finding it. The bar is mainly on the second and third floors. If possible, try to sit at the bar on the third floor. You can see the entire dinosaur skeleton. There are also some specimen artworks on the bar, which can be curious after drinking. There was a small episode when I arrived at the store. The email reservation was successful but the reservation information was not found. Fortunately, another seat was arranged immediately. The overall service is very good, and there is no problem communicating in English. There will be a very enthusiastic introduction when you move to the bar. It’s a pity that I didn’t come during the day (it opens at 3 pm). Many of the furnishings in the store feel that they can be photographed more clearly.

There are two wine lists, one is a holiday special, I chose Merry Merry and Immortal 25, both are sweet and sour, the latter has a smoky ritual feeling (coincidentally, I also ordered a similar wine in the Hudson Rooms in the afternoon). The main wine list ordered Green Fairy and a recommended Martini. Although it still has some Southeast Asian sweet water in form, the alcohol content is still a bit, not to the point of not feeling tipsy. The snacks with wine are nuts, nothing special.

It is particularly worth mentioning that when paying, the bar's POS machine seemed to have a problem, and my various cards could not be swiped. The boss said on the spot that I could give him the money the next day. It feels really kind to the Tourists who come to support him. Fortunately, I searched various pockets to collect enough cash and paid on the spot.

Looking back on the whole drinking experience, I suddenly remembered that the title page of The Haflington's main wine list quoted Aristotle's words "Patience is bitter, but fruit is sweet". The meaning of the entire bar's existence may be to convey the bittersweet meaning of life. I was in a hurry this time, so I didn't have a few more drinks, nor did I appreciate the artworks carefully and take photos. It's a bit regrettable. I will definitely go again next time I come to Hanoi for a layover or business Trip.
